Scanner pause with camera active

We would really appreciate having the barcode scanner tool in the mobile app have an option to pause the scan reader even while the camera is active.

ATM, we can disable the scanner. While disabled, the camera view is also disabled. So, as soon as you disable the scanner, you can immediately see the camera view but, the scanner is also immediately trying to scan what it sees. This results in the scanner not being pointed quite at the desired barcode and the scanner will sometimes scan a different barcode that is also close in viewer or will scan a partial of the barcode and possible load in an incorrect value. If only we could pause the scanner so we could still see through the camera view, aim at the barcode and then push a button like taking a picture to actually start the scanner function.

I've shared this feedback internally. Thanks for sharing details on how this impacts your users & the limitations of disabling the scanner

Transparently, I am not sure where this will fall on the roadmap, but I know the team that would own this is already committed to some larger projects in the next two quarters. I will follow up here with any updates though :crossed_fingers:

Thanks. Do you know of examples of using some other scanner with retool? Like a handheld possibly Bluetooth scanner that isn't just a camera? I have looked around but I haven't really found concrete info on that.
