When I go to preview and come back, the left panel has turned off and the toolbar icon shows it is off and I can turn it back on there.

Hmm yes, the opened/closed value doesn’t appear to be stored anywhere and it’s not open by default 
. There is a keyboard shortcut (cmd+B on Mac) which might help!
It would be nice if we saved the state of this for each individual editor! I know I’ve personally usually got the left panel open

Just nudging this one a bit. Reopening the left panel each time I reload is a minor pain point, but a pain point nonetheless.
