Is there a Markdown WYSIWYG text editor for Retool as a native or 3rd party component available?

Because of this: richTextEditor uses <p></p> for "New line"

Not currently :disappointed: We have a feature request for this.

In the meantime, I believe there are teams using the custom component & third party libraries

+1 to this request for a markdown editor. Or if the existing richtext editor could save markdown instead of html that would be great.

We really need this as the rich text editor is not sufficient for composing emails.

Just released a custom component if anyone is looking for this but doesnt want to implement their own!

Hii @Tess any updates on this? in the world of AI a lot of text is MD based and not being able to edit it properly in Retool is a huge issue

You're raising a fair point, I totally understand, the AI angle really has changed the weight of this ask, and I've flagged it internally with that framing. We don't have a native WYSIWYG Markdown editor yet, but in the meantime jamesg31's community-built featured above: WYSIWYG Markdown and HTML Editor is the best unblock I've seen. I'll circle back here if anything moves on the native side. :folded_hands:
