How to upgrade to Enterprise and White-label application for distribution to Google Play/Apple App Store?

Hello,

I really want to upgrade to Enterprise and enable white-labelling and be able to distribute our app to external users through the app stores.

I've tried to book a demo/phone call with Retool team but they pointed me to Discord and these forums so I'm hoping someone with experience can help me.

We have an existing application that is already distributed to app stores, built on another platform, and we have an active user base that have our app installed already.

We want to publish Retool mobile app as an app update.

The other platform allows us to code-sign and generate downloadable apk files etc for Google Play and App Store ourselves but in Retool it says I need to contact support for this option and to be able to upgrade to Enterprise plan.

We are looking to migrate from the other platform and publish our app update ASAP so we can migrate our users.

However, it's proving difficult to actually speak with someone at Retool. Ideally I'd like to speak with someone who can answer questions about migration and distribution.

Does anyone have experience with Retool in getting an external user app distributed to app stores?

I also want to know about code signing etc and Firebase/push and other features. How also can I re-generate and download APK etc for app update?

I was hoping there might be some onboarding demo/support etc and management through the process, especially as we have existing application and user base and we are looking to migrate on Enterprise plan. I'm hoping someone can help point me in right direction here that has been through the process already? Do you have any good contacts at Retool that can help us migrate to their platform?

Best regards,
Spike

One other question, I'd looked at configuration options for which App to redirect External Users on successful login but this appears to apply to all external users without condition. For example, we have a Mobile App and a Web App built in Retool. How can I redirect users on login to the appropriate application depending on their device type?

I want to redirect users in a browser to the Web App, and users on Mobile Application to the Mobile App.

The login/auth of external users etc I have quite a few questions around so really would be great if someone has a contact at Retool they know wouldn't mind answering some questions etc

For example... If I am on a mobile using browser and I visit the web app, most components are hidden by default and do not render correctly, so it appears need separate apps for Desktop vs Tablet/Mobile as I've had difficulty building a single web app in Retool that works nicely across all screen sizes.

With that in mind, that is also why above I mentioned conditional redirect on login based on device type/screen size

I'm sure all of this is probably easily solved and can be fully self-managed but being fairly new to the platform I'm still discovering where/how on features etc

For anyone wondering, here is how to redirect users to appropriate app based on screen resolution

External users in browser enter via URL to App 1 ("Custom Login App") which gives the white-labelled login.

This app contains the login form... The event handler for 'on sucess' runs script:

if (viewport.width < 768) {
utils.openApp([Mobile App UUID]);
}
else
{
utils.openApp([Web App UUID]);
}

and this redirects user to app version optimised for their screen size

I imagine this could also be expanded for a more granular approach with more versions

Hey all,

I’ve not had any response on forums, emailed support twice now but nothing back.

On Discord I had another Retool customer help with above login issue which was helpful but… still no answers on how I can upgrade to Enterprise plan or any contact from Retool themselves

I really just want to upgrade our package to Enterprise and get some support to publish our app :pray:

If anyone from Retool is here or knows anyone that works there can they please get someone to contact me and get our plan upgraded?

Thanks

Hi @Spike_Patching, it sounds like we're interested on this Enterprise feature:

For upgrading to the Enterprise plan, our sales team will be your primary point of contact. They’re best equipped to discuss options and provide guidance on the process. While our support team is here to help with the implementation of your apps, this feature specifically is something that the deployed engineer (or account manager) enables for the Enterprise account:

On the other hand, Enterprise upgrades are managed directly through our sales process. I see that our sales team did reach out to you a few times recently, I sent you a DM with the email account we have on file.

Lastly, while we do our best to keep our community and support responsive, our Retool team isn’t officially available over the weekend. That said, you’ll often find active members of our community here, sharing insights and offering help, though specific questions around Enterprise capabilities and migration are best addressed by Retool team members during business hours.

Hi @Paulo ,

I followedup with the contact from the Sales Team asking for a quote to upgrade to Enterprise plan and asking to book a demo/call.

The reply starts with "I can’t give a precise quote" and still no offer to book a demo/call.

I initiated this contact by completing a form "Book a Demo" but it's proving really difficult to actually book the demo or speak to anyone.

The other part of response "you’ll be looking at paying for our enterprise plan upwards in the mid-five figures annually"... The package below is £52/user/month and the only feature we want from Enterprise is the ability to get the app we've built into the app stores.

I wanted to ask questions about pricing/features prior to investing time into the platform on development, but it appeared suitable and certainly wasn't expecting to see a x10 price increase just to publish our app to app stores.

How can we make this work please?

I am becoming very frustrated by the lack of even basic Sales support...

I have asked to book a demo THREE TIMES now but still there is nothing forthcoming.

I've asked for a quote by;
Emailing support@retool.com
Emailing sales@retool.com
Emailing Louise in Sales Team

I still have no quote, and the only reply is from the Sales Team who say they can't give a precise quote...

They did not ask any questions about our requirements or acknowledge my request for availability to book a demo.

As you can appreciate, I am feeling very frustrated. I just want to know which services are appropriate for our requirements and to receive a quote.

I expected that a sales representative would engage me as an interested customer, understand our requirements and then direct us to the most appropriate plan and a quote.

This forum post is the most in-depth reply I've had from anyone at Retool. The platform looks superb and it's just a question of costs/features... I hoped the sales team would be able to answer that, but it appears they cannot.

I am going to start investigating other platforms now because, although Retool looks superb, I have spent too long trying to become a customer without any success and I don't feel that Retool cares about me as a customer since my questions are ignored and promises to provide a demo haven't been fulfilled, and there is no onboarding support.

Your feedback is really important to us, and I'm sorry you've had a negative experience so far. We've surfaced this feedback to the relevant Retool teams internally.

Enterprise features are offered as a package rather than individually. This is a business decision that allows us to generate the necessary revenue to support a well-funded, healthy company and continue enhancing the Retool platform.

Some background on our pricing, as shared by our CEO: Over the past few years, we've made multiple changes where we've lowered our pricing.

Moving forward, our leadership team aims to continue delivering more value, whether through expanded offerings, improved functionality, or price adjustments. This is especially true as we grow and work with larger organizations who are often willing to invest in enterprise features. As that happens, we will use that revenue to fund making Retool cheaper for all developers, including SMBs.

We understand that each organization has unique needs, and we’re grateful for your input to help us better align our plans. We're also grateful for the time you've spent with Retool, and we hope our offerings may better align with your needs in the future.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
