External App Users Not Working

Hey,

I am trying to use a MULTI-PAGE app for my External users but each time I invite a user, they have access to all my apps and can even edit them as if they were "creators". I have followed what was inside the documentation but it is not super clear.

Anyone having the same issue or was able to work with external users in production?
Does external app works with multipage app?

It is quite urgent as I need to show the first app to my client next Monday so would appreciate some support. Thanks!

  • Goal: being able to invite external users on my whitelisted app and they should only use the app.

  • Steps:
    a) I have specified my internal list and inviting users outside of this
    b) I have created a custom landing page for the users
    c) I have make sure my users have only access "USE" to the landing page and the multipage app
    d) When I invite new users, I am invited them either as "all users" or as "all users" and "viewer", both did not work. I am making sure the mail is out of my internal list.
    e) I have multipage activated in "beta"
    f) I have checked inside the "additional" of the External Users permissions

Hey @Tonep, unfortunately External apps are not supported in Multipage yet. I'll let you know when we start work on it!

Hey @Tonep! Just following up here after office hours. When you get a chance, can you confirm that updating the permissions for the "All Users" group fixed your immediate issue?

@Darren seems like indeed.

@ming why are you mentioning this? Is it working with Multipage or not yet?

Ahh glad to know your issue was resolved! Per the docs, Custom product pages are not supported in multipage yet. You might see some strange behavior, since the team haven't been able to investigate Multipage / External apps yet. If there is any do let us know!

OK thank you @ming. Are "custom product pages" and "multipage" the same?

Hi @ming,

Could you elaborate more on what "Custom product pages" means? Seems that @Tonep's problem was more related to a permissions issue rather than the app being a multipage one, but I just want to make sure as I'm in the process of building a multipage app for external clients and I could lose hundreds of hours if I have to redo everything in separate apps (btw, is there a way to export a page from a multipage app to an app?)

Thanks!

Hey @MiguelOrtiz! Sure, this screenshot is what I was referring to for custom product pages:

This part of the product has not been investigated yet by the multipage team yet so some things might work but other features might not. If you are using Retool embed/portals/public apps multipage will still work!

Ah, I see what you mean. Got it, thank you!
