Even though Passwordless authentication toggled, password is still required

Hello Everyone.

  • Goal: I want to set up passwordless authentication for my Retool space using the "Passwordless login" option.

  • Steps: I set the following options:

  1. SSO: none
  2. Advanced->Autojoin domain: <mydomain.com> can request to join
  3. Advanced-> Enable passwordless login - toggled to true.

Still, when a user requests to join and gets accepted, the only way to proceed is either "Google sign in" or Email-Password combination.

Is there anything I'm missing? I would love to avoid setting up OIDC, SSO or forcing users to create passwords. Magic links (aka Passwordless login) would solve this problem.

I see in another thread (https://community.retool.com/t/does-retool-support-magic-links/21899) that Passwordless login works only for the mobile. Is that still the case?
I'm pretty sure the Desktop users would benefit form it as well.

Best,
Serhii

Agreed, this is very confusing that the setting does not indicate that it's only for mobile.

HI @Serhii_Dolia, as @erispoe mentioned, this setting is only for mobile. Here is the doc for it:

We currently do not support passwordless login on web apps but I'm happy to collect +1s on this feature request. :slightly_smiling_face:

The Advance Settings section should be updated to mention that it is only for mobile to clear up confusion from the interface, or just make it available for web apps.

Hi @ablevinsalix, welcome to the forum!
We have an internal FR to move this toggle to 'Mobile Advanced Settings.'
Thank you for your feedback, I added it to the internal request.
