Are you in the NY metro area or nearby? We're hosting an NYC Retool Meetup, and you're invited!
This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow builders, exchange ideas, and see how others are leveraging Retool to build impactful solutions.
This was a great meetup! Finally put some faces to names, the demo of upcoming features was interesting and seeing other customers who have embraced and leveraged Retool pointing out some great examples and specific performant focused ideas/architecture was a real takeaway for me.
I hope this becomes a more regularly scheduled meetup. BTW - Murrays charcuterie was a nice treat. Thanks @sarahs and to the Retool team members who made this happen; I met a few of you as well and really appreciated the discussions we had.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who attended our inaugural NYC Retool Meetup! The energy in the room was incredible, and it was inspiring to see the vibrant connections that formed as we brought our online community into a real-world setting.
Seeing @pyrrho’s impressive knitting skills in action—proof that Retool saves so many engineering hours, you might even have time to pick up a new hobby!
Connecting with both long-time community members and enthusiastic new Retool builders—great meeting you, @St_Iv !
Learning about @scottR’s innovative beer app and swapping ideas about creative Retool use cases.
Feeling the buzz around future IRL meetups—shoutout to @matei ei for the enthusiasm!
Akira Togawa (Harris): Scaling Retool for Business-Critical Systems
Rapid Adoption Through Quick Wins: Starting with small, high-impact projects drove widespread internal adoption.
Reusable Templates: Standardized workflows and CRUD templates streamlined development and improved consistency.
Decoupling Dependencies: Reducing reliance on external systems enhanced performance and minimized risks from upstream changes.
Real-World Impact: Efficiency gains from Retool implementations helped eliminate costly errors and reduce reliance on external vendors.
Max Murphy (American Express): Optimizing Retool Performance at Scale
Shift Business Logic to Workflows: Moving app logic from the client side to workflows significantly improved performance and reduced load times.
Optimize Queries: Use SQL LIMIT clauses, server-side pagination, and caching for long-running queries to speed up data handling.
Modular App Design: Breaking large applications into smaller, function-specific apps improves maintainability and performance.
Debounce Inputs: Implement debouncing for rapid-update fields to reduce unnecessary query triggers.
Performance Wins: These optimizations led to faster load times and substantial cost savings.
