Is it possible to add a record on the new table similar to on the old table component where is is built into the table instead of an external form? It is much more cumbersome in my use case to build and configure a form (with all custom manual options) than the old tables functionality of just being able to easily add a row.

As described here, this isn't something we've added to the new table 
I'll make sure we have a feature request for this though & follow up here if we decide to add this feature.
love and hate the new table, its news, looks good, has cool features but lacks a lot from the old one in features such as background per cell and add new row
