The field HEADER is incapable of having more complex methods such as map. In those cases, the header being forwarded is the code itself

Does it work if you use a JavaScript step that returns the expression you're looking for?
At the moment it's actually expected that double curlies in the resource setup page only allow for passing simple variable references as you mentioned.
