Error with AI usage

I am unable to use AI, I have updated to the latest retool version with self hosted. But when I try to use AI in the app I get the following error.

Something went wrong. Please try again. If the issue persists, it may be an issue with your Anthropic or OpenAPI key. Please contact your admins, or use Retool's provided keys by going to Resources > Retool AI.

+1 having the same issue. I’m using a manual connection via Anthropic API key (all retool managed connections disabled intentionally). I confirmed the anthropic key is active, but get the same error when running Assist in edit mode

Hi @Varun_Kumar, since you opened a support ticket as well, we will continue to follow up on that internal thread. We can update here once it is resolved.

@steevm can you confirm that you followed these steps? If so, you'll also want to make sure that your key enabled to use Sonnet 4.5, Sonnet 4, and Haiku 4.5.

Otherwise, I've seen similar errors related to network issues. Depending on how you're self-hosting, you may want to check your egress policy to make sure calls to Anthropic can get through.

I was able to solve it by setting up environment variables correctly and updating the retool to the latest version. Configure your organization for Assist | Retool Docs
