Goal: Create draft release to build upon live version of the app
Problem: No matter how many times I delete a draft version and create a new one. My previous edits reappear such as components I've added and renamed.
Steps taken:
- Live version is 1.4.4
- Create new patch version, 1.4.5 (old edits reappear)
- Delete 1.4.5
- Create new minor version, 1.5.0 (old edits reappear)
- Delete 1.5.0
- Open Retool in Incognito session
- Create new patch version, 1.4.5 (old edits still there)
- Scratch eyes out
Exam question: How can I create a new version based on my live 1.4.4 to serve as a clean slate with no recent edits? Thanks.
Hi @ferret141,
I'm sure you have, but just double checking: Have you tried using the "Revert to this version" option rather than just deleting the version?
Hi @MiguelOrtiz,
Never assume the foolishness of man
Thanks for going over the basics.
With your hint led me closer to a solution but things are still wonky.
Steps I took:
- Created v1.5.0 (minor) in draft
- Confirmed unwanted edits still present
- Used 'Revert to this version' on v1.4.4
- Confirmed unwanted edits still present in v1.5.0
- Published v.1.5.0
- Used 'Revert to this version' on v1.4.4
- v1.5.0 no longer has unwanted edits and matches v.1.4.4
- Re-published v1.4.4 as the live copy while I work on v1.5.0
- v1.5.0 now has unwanted edits again
Are there cached edits somewhere?
That's a good question, I don't know.
It seems though as if you created version 1.5.0 with the edits that you don't want to see.
Can you try something:
- Revert to version v1.4.4.
- Add a random component and save draft version 1.5
- Revert to 1.4.4
- Do the same with another random component, different from the first one, and save draft version 1.6
- Rinse and repeat for 1.7
If after that you go revert to either 1.5 or 1.6, will you see only the component you added for each version?
